Our concept mural pushes forward the idea of looking into a brighter future where we rely on more eco friendly resources to transform our environment. To enhance this idea, we decided to use crystal balls as they are associated with telling the future, each ball filled with a more safe and clean environment for all living things. The main focal point has a futuristic city scene that relies on more environmentally conscious sources of energy such as solar panels and a larger incorporation of greenery throughout the city. For the real mural we would want to expand even more on this, looking into other sources of clean energy and painting how they could be incorporated into the future societies. The second crystal ball focuses on our second main focus regarding the environment, which are the tumultuous amounts of  endangered animals around the world. The second crystal ball acts as the possibilities for other animals if we take better care of the Earth, including a thriving community of animals who were once considered endangered or vulnerable, including the yellow crested cockatoos, the Indian Elephant, and wild pandas. Stairs are attached to both crystal balls, indicating the path our world follows to the future.

The stairs are quite long and steep, indicating a difficult journey that will be worth it in the end. There is a diverse range of animals and people on this path, emphasizing how this is an opportunity for everyone to experience. For the actual mural, we would put much more detail on the people as well as number of animals to not only establish our audience and argument but to match the stylistic choices of the rest of the piece. We used a ground of red silk to push forward the idea of crystal balls along with a galaxy background. The galaxy background consists mainly of purples and blues to contrast the crystal balls and allow viewers attention to be drawn more to it. There are large groups of dead trees and debris on the red silk, symbolizing how people will leave a toxic environment behind to strive for renovation. The debris is very dark and muted, which juxtaposes the bright crystal balls filled with new possibilities. Sustainable cities are our main concern or interest so we put it more in the foreground, along with the people creating a concentrated left foreground compared to the right. To create a balance though, we have a dense background for the right side, with the crystal ball filled with animals along with one of the stairs reaching towards the audience. Overall our piece will be leaning towards a more realistic art style, not focusing on the fine details as it is a mural however still utilizing shadows and highlights to build depth in our objects. This would be largely created with paints and blending for a clear and very vibrant finish. Finally with the bright colors and loud background we hope to create a tone of hope and excitement for a better future.
